KUALA LUMPUR: A woman pub promoter has been found dead after she was beaten with a mop during a lover’s spat at their flat in Taman Jinjang here today.
Sentul district police chief R. Munusamy said police have arrested a technician who had slashed his wrist.
The man was arrested at about 6.35am after police received a report on the incident.
He said the man was sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for treatment, while the woman’s body was sent for a post-mortem examination.
He said the man had admitted having beaten his partner out of jealousy.
“He suspected the woman of having an affair with another man. The couple was said to have been arguing since last Thursday because she refused to go home and take care of their four-year-old daughter,” he told Bernama here today.
The couple were not married and had been living together for five years.
He said the man was said to have sent the daughter to the home of her grandfather (the woman’s father) at about 9pm yesterday.
Munusamy said the man would be held in remand until next Thursday for investigations on a murder charge.
